A heart for those hurting,
An ear for what’s wise,
A hunger and burning,
To comfort their cries.
Alertness to warnings,
To quicken my pace,
A sense of God’s presence,
In each holy face.
A will to shun evil,
And feet that obey,
Hands used for love’s work,
Rather than play.
Money spent freely,
To further His cause,
Without hesitation,
With nary a pause.
Love given quickly,
Fear never known,
Kindness and sympathy,
Lavishly shown.
Let those be my virtues,
To God be the praise,
Who knows I am worthless,
In all my own ways.
