Death Wish

Lord, call me home I humbly pray,
I've been the source of trouble here,
My poor heart follows its own way,
Still, God, I know that you are near.

Forgive my faults if you are able,
Condemn me if it's right to do,
My ways, my thoughts, are too unstable,
I cannot tell what's false, what's true.

To haunting fears each day I wake,
The nights afford a sleepless rest,
I want to change for my Lord's sake,
I look to Christ, for He knows best.

Someday I'll cross that river dark,
And then behold the other shore,
Will I then find I missed the mark?
That I am lost forevermore?

"Father, lead me gently home,"
Words like these are sung through tears,
Place me deep beneath the loam,
Spare me any future years!
